Student Services

Counseling

The college, aware that current and prospective students face a great number of decisions while pursuing higher education, provides counseling services free of charge to all students. Any student may make an appointment with a counselor to discuss admissions, career planning, transfers, or personal concerns.

Personal Counseling

Counselors can assist students encountering difficulties to clarify their basic values and feelings so as to gain a better understanding of themselves and to find solutions to their problems. In some cases, counselors may refer students to outside sources for additional help.

Transfer Counseling

Students planning to transfer to four-year colleges are encouraged to discuss their goals with a counselor who will review the various options available to the student. Once a suitable four-year institution has been decided upon, students should:

  1. File applications for the institution. If applying to a private college, follow the procedures outlined by that school. If applying to a college within the SUNY system, secure a SUNY application at the Counseling Center and complete that form.
  2. Have an official ECC transcript sent to the institution by the Campus Registrar.
